400gsm Pearl Chenille with Optional Laminated Backing

400gsm Pearl Chenille with Optional Laminated Backing

A 100% polyester chenille fabric weighing 400gsm with a width of 145cm. The surface is distinguished by small, rounded, balllike nubs distributed evenly across the material – a deliberate textural effect that sets it apart from conventional flat chenille or velvet.

Surface Character

When touched, the fabric reveals a dual sensation: the gentle resistance of countless soft, raised bumps, followed by the firm, dense base beneath. These pearllike nubs are not a posttreatment or adhesive application; they are integral to the fabric's construction. The resulting surface scatters light softly, creating a muted, grainy visual effect that adds depth without being glossy or reflective. This texture not only appeals to the sense of touch but also helps mask everyday signs of wear, as minor abrasions tend to blend into the nubbed pattern rather than standing out on a flat plane.

Customization and Ordering

Supply type is made to order with a minimum order quantity of 1200–1600 metres per colour. Custom colours are available upon request. The type of backing can be selected based on project requirements, and the finish can be tailored for different levels of water resistance if needed. The fabric meets general environmental standards.
Durability and Practical Performance

The 400gsm weight provides a substantial, stable hand that resists sagging, wrinkling, and pilling. As the fabric is made entirely of polyester, it does not shrink, fade easily, or require special care. Liquid spills can be wiped clean without immediate absorption. The raised nubs are structurally woven into the fabric and will not shed or flatten under normal seating and friction. This combination of weight, texture, and fibre composition makes the material well suited for hightraffic applications such as family sofas, dining chairs, upholstered headboards, and cushions.

Lamination Options – Backing Choices

The fabric can be used on its own for curtains, light cushion covers, or decorative throws. For projects that require additional body, warmth, or structural stability, a laminated backing can be added.

A lightweight nonwoven backing improves drape and stability for large curtain panels.

A mediumweight fleece backing prevents slippage on sofa cushions and adds thermal insulation.

A heavier, dense backing transforms the fabric into a rigid, heavyduty upholstery material suitable for headboards, bench seating, or contract applications.

The top surface remains the same pearltextured chenille; only the underlying performance and hand feel change according to the chosen backing.
